Our Highland Herd

Hazel – 100% Highland

Hazel might just be the sweetest animal I have ever had the pleasure of being around!  She enjoys human interaction, and was halter broke the 2nd time I put a halter on her.  Just an incredible heifer, all around, that came from Dakota Ranch.  She has the build, the personality, AHCA registration/bloodlines, and all the fluff!

Margaret – 100% Highland

Margaret joined our farm all the way from Asman Highlands in Oregon.  She is AHCA registered, and has the Balmoral bloodlines.  She is halter broke, and a sweet heifer.  She is always ready for a good brushing or a delicious treat.

Opal – 100% Highland

This heifer came to us from Kentucky, and is friendly as can be!  She is halter broke, and loves attention.  She is really maturing nicely.  Her sire is AHCA registered, and her dam is HHCA.  This heifer is HHCA registered.

Orison of Canela – 100% Highland Bull

Orison is a picture of what a traditional Scottish Highland bull looks like!  He is absolutely stunning to see, and is a gentleman to boot!  He is halter-broke, and will lead anywhere.  Very respectful of his humans, and his herd.  Orison comes from Shat Acres bloodlines, and his maternal line includes multiple national titles (including Shat Acres Cinnamon).  We are so excited to add this level of genetics to our herd!

Mabel – 100% AHCA Highland

Mabel comes to us all the way from Wyoming!  She was shown at the county fair level, and is very easy to work/handle.  She has a gentle, sweet disposition, and just loves being brushed.  Mabel has some Balmoral bloodlines, which I try not to be partial to but just can’t seem to help it!

Ruby – 100% Red Highland Heifer

Ruby came to us from Rocking K Highlands, and is AHCA registered.  She is a sweet girl that follows us in the pasture, and is patiently waiting for a good brushing.  Ruby was born in June 2023.  She started out a lighter red/yellow color, but is shedding out to be a pretty red.

Thelma – 100% Highland

Thelma is one of our original 3 heifers, and is HHCA registered.  She is 100% Highland, and stands about 42″ at the hip.  When we first brought Thelma to our farm, she wasn’t as approachable as our other calves.  However, Thelma has turned in to my therapy animal!  She is always patient to stand in line for her turn to be brushed, and doesn’t like the other cattle getting too lively around me.  I never get tired of looking at this gorgeous, brindle girl.

B.B. – 50% Highland, 50% Hereford

B.B. was a spur of the moment purchase by my husband at a local auction.  When he brought her home, I have to admit that I wasn’t sure about his purchase.  However, as we were able to get some weight on her, B.B.’s unique personality started to shine through!  She is one of our friendliest cows, and is always one of the first to greet you at the gate.

Berry – 100% Highland Bull

Berry is that deep, mahogany red I had been searching for!  Not only is he well built with a beautiful color, he is a very sweet bull that loves a brushing.  His sire was also a deep red, and was AHCA registered.  His dam was HHCA, and Berry is HHCA-A Registered.  He was born June 2023.

Sparkle – 100% HHCA Highland

Sparkle is another lovely girl from Hagges Highlands in Wyoming.  Reggie raises great stock, and takes great care to raise them with respect for the handlers.  Sparkle is a sweet girl with that beautiful red coloring.  Her sire is AHCA and her dam was unregistered.

Reese – 100% AHCA Highland

Reese is our second purchase from Dakota Ranch Highlands.  She is hair for days, is wide, and just a fancy heifer!!  Reese has a great personality, and is a real cuddle baby.  Her bloodlines include Highland Spice and Canadian genetics.

Cream – 100% British White

We bought Cream at a sale as a bottle baby, and she is still a cuddle baby till this day.  I have never been around a cow that is as friendly, or as smart, as Cream!  She is one of a kind, and I am so happy she is on our farm!

Silver Belle – 100% Silver Highland Cow

We are so excited to have Silver Belle on our farm!  She was purchased from the HHCA’s annual Fall auction, and we couldn’t be happier with this heifer!  Belle is 100% Highland, a 2022 calf, HHCA registered, and is halter broke.  She has a thick, beautiful coat and has been dehorned.  Belle has a great personality, and once she gets to know you, will always be there for a treat or brushing.

Anna – 100% Red Highland Cow

Anna is AHCA registered, and has really impressed me with her calm disposition.  She arrived on our farm from Silver Linings Highlands in North Carolina, and was calm on arrival.  She loves brushes and treats, and has the beautiful Bus Dubh coloring found in some Highland cattle genetics.

Polly – 100% Black Highland Heifer

Polly is registered with HHCA, and is a really beautiful black coloring with red highlights.  She is a quiet, calm heifer, born in December 2023.  She has been halter broke, and loves being pampered.

Petunia – 100% Highland Cow

We weren’t looking for another cow when we met Petunia, but she was just so chill when we laid eyes on her that we couldn’t help but give her a second look!  She has some age on her, but she is still producing healthy, energetic calves.  Nothing gets Petunia worked up, and she will do anything you ask her to do.  She has such a calm personality, there is no need to use a halter.

Millet – 100% Highland Heifer

Millet joined our herd from Windland Flats of Minnesota.  She is a Dunn AHCA registered May 2023 heifer, and has stunning parents.  Millet is another thick, friendly heifer that is always patiently waiting for her turn to be brushed.  Like her best friend, Winnie, she is such an easy heifer to be around on the farm.

Winnie – 100% Highland Heifer

Winnie joined our herd from Bullrush Highland Acres of Canada.  This yellow June 2023 heifer has a quiet, friendly personality.  She has a thick build, and is a very easy keeper.  She is HHCA registered, halter broke, and well socialized.
